Me and Minnesota

There I am at Emily’s Lebanese Deli.

My wife Katie and I ate at Emily’s Lebanese Deli last week. The best tabbouleh in the world. In my world, at least.

Katie and I took a walk near St. Anthony and Main. We went to the same place where I proposed to her 14 years ago. That’s why I’m licking her ring. Thank God that Katie’s response to my lick was this.

Here’s a picture of Katie and me standing in front of our house in Northeast Minneapolis. This was the house we brought Solomon home to in 2013. This was where I lived from 2008-2014. I love this house.

Here’s a picture of Katie and me taking a walk along the Stone Arch Bridge.

Here’s a picture of Katie and me underneath the Stone Arch Bridge. Don’t worry. Duncan wasn’t there.

Here’s a picture of Katie and me having dinner at Francis. Francis replaced Sen Yai Sen Lek. Sen Yai Sen Lek is the Thai restaurant in Northeast that we loved. We ate there nearly every Tuesday. We held our wedding reception there. We accidentally ended up returning because our friend Natalie suggested Francis was the best vegan place she’d ever eaten. It was.

Katie’s parents came to join us as we finished dinner. I told the owner of Francis we held our wedding reception here. He brought us champagne.

Oh, and remember how I made friends with an Alpaca a few weeks ago? Here he is.

My stepmother sent me a box of old pictures the day we came back from our trip to Ames. The day I met Alpaca. The box contained a picture of my father. Dad must have been the age I am now. Dad met his own Alpaca.

The universe is a strange place, my friend. But I love my dad, I love Alpaca, I love Minneapolis, and I love my wife Katie.
