The Hunger

There is a wild animal in my house. A beast with a hunger. And that animal must feed.

Sometimes (it is a little too often if you ask me), my wife Katie forgets to feed Theo his wet food. Theo and his sister Meowalicious have a small cup of dry food for breakfast. They share a container of wet food for dinner. They prefer Katie to feed them. Who am I to question their preferences?

Sadly, kind and dutiful reader, sometimes my wife forgets her duty. Theo’s tummy begins to rumble. His blood races through his cat veins. He begins to stalk the house. He can’t help it. Theo has the instincts of a predator. His raw cat emerges. A wild cat hunting the plains. A wild cat that needs to feed!

Theo’s chubby sister Meowalicious spends a great deal of time nesting on my wife Katie’s face. Katie sits down on the couch and BAM! there is Meowalicious, kneading her face. Needing her face.

Do you like the way I used “BAM!” above? I’m inspired by the wild, energetic look in Theo’s eyes. That’s a “BAM!” look if I’ve ever seen one.

Anyway, Theo often ignores Meowalicious when she cuddles with my wife. Unless, of course, the hunger sets in. Sadly, kind reader, the hunger fell upon Theo a few weeks back. Meowalicious was fast asleep on Katie. Her tail dangling over the edge of the couch. Theo couldn’t help himself. He began to stalk his sister’s tail. Precious baby Theo – I sometimes call him my Thee-Boy – opened his mouth to feed.

BAM!

Who am I, kind and dutiful reader, to question the instincts of a wild beast? Especially when that beast is hungry? If Theo wants to feed on his sister, then so be it.

I warn you, reader, if you have a cat such as Theo in a house such as ours, please make sure to satiate their hunger with a container of wet food. Otherwise carnage might ensue. Otherwise, you might turn your head, and see this:

BAM!
